BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged the public to hand over to the police anyone attempting to extort money using the BNP’s name.
“The BNP has no connection with extortionists,” the BNP leader said while distributing relief among flood victims in the Choto Sharifpur area of Cumilla’s Lalmai Upazila today (31 August).
“Today, various newspapers are publishing news that tarnishes BNP’s image. The party has no connection with these activities.
“There are attempts to undermine the victory achieved through the students’ and the people’s uprising. Today, there is an effort to create division and separate us. Everyone should remain vigilant,” he added.
He further said, “The interim government is just 20-22 days old. We’ve had discussions with the government to ensure that they can create an environment for a fair election. The new government should be given time to address this.”
