4 killed in truck-microbus collision in Narsingdi

Four people were killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus in Narsingdi yesterday (31 August).

The incident took place on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in the Dagaria area of ​​Sadar upazila around 9:30pm.

The deceased were identified as Kamrun Nahar, 35, Tanzina Akhtar, 24, Sabiha 14 and Sajid Mia, 12, all residents of Abdullahpur village in Charsubuddhi union of the district’s Raipura upazila.

Quoting family members of the victims, Narsingdi Fire Service and Civil Defence Station Officer Md Raihan said the victims were returning to their home in Raipura upazila by microbus at night after a family function.

When the microbus reached Dagaria area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway, it collided head-on with a cargo truck coming from the opposite direction, he added.

Narsingdi District Sadar Hospital emergency department’s Dr Rakib Ashkari said eight people were brought to the hospital after the incident.

“Four of them died on the spot. The rest were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment,” he added.
