Ex-MP Jafar Alam, 20 others sued over attack on BNP rally in Cox’s Bazar in 2013

Two separate cases have been filed against 21 people, including former MP Jafar Alam, in connection with an attack on a BNP rally in Chakaria of Cox’s Bazar in 2013.
Two former officers-in-charge and two sub-inspectors of Chakaria Police Station were also accused in one of the cases.
Jubo Dal leader Mohammad Jakaria and Chakaria upazila’s Chiringa union resident Al Kuachh filed the cases with the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court today (2 September).
The court ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the cases and submit reports.
Plaintiff Mohammad Jakaria’s lawyer Gholam Sarwar said on 9 April 2013, a rally of BNP-Jubo Dal was attacked led by former MP Jafar Alam in Chakaria town. During the attack, Mohammad Jakaria, along with several BNP-Jubo Dal leaders and activists, were injured.
In a separate incident, on 14 June 2009, the BNP office in the Saudagar Ghana area of Chiringa Union was vandalised and looted under the leadership of former MP Jafar Alam.
