Ctg customs to auction 46 lots of goods including 2 luxury cars
The Chittagong Customs Authority is set to auction off a total of 46 lots of goods, including two luxury cars, through an online e-auction.
The auction will take place on 18 September, featuring a 2022 Mercedes-Benz valued at Tk16.1 million, and a 2021 Land Cruiser priced at Tk5.17 million.
In addition to the luxury vehicles, the e-auction includes various other items such as cloth, security tags, tiles, juices, engine oil, ceramic vases, and more.
As the auction is conducted online, all bids must be submitted electronically.
The bidding window opens on 8 September and closes on 18 September at 5pm.
Potential bidders will have the opportunity to view the items in person on 11 and 12 September
The auction is being managed by KM Corporation, a private firm specialising in public auctions.
Chittagong Customs House Deputy Commissioner Salim Reza told TBS that many of the items in this year’s auction have been put up for sale multiple times in the past without success.
However, he expressed optimism that the e-auction format will attract a strong response.
According to Chittagong Customs, participants from across Bangladesh can join the e-auction, which is expected to increase the number of bidders and encourage competitive offers.
Goods imported from various countries are sometimes not unloaded by importers for a variety of reasons. Additionally, customs authorities may halt the unloading of goods due to concerns such as smuggling, forgery, discrepancies between the imported goods and the declared items, customs evasion, and other related issues.
As per the rules, a notice is issued to release and for importers to take possession of these imports within 30 days. Customs house authorities put the goods up for auction 15 days after the notice.
