Suspected smuggler dies in Narayanganj after being held for questioning

A man, who was suspected of smuggling drugs, died when he was held by officials of the Department of Narcotics Controls (DNC) for questioning in Narayanganj today (8 September).
The deceased, Syedul Karim, 50, hailed from Cox’s Bazar district.
Zainal Abedin, inspector of Narayanganj Department of Narcotics Controls, said Syedul Karim was held after a search on a passenger bus on a tip-off.
“While we were interrogating him, he fell ill. He was taken to the hospital where the doctor on-duty declared him dead,” he said.
There are four cases filed against him in Cumilla and Cox’s Bazar, the inspector said.
