7 jailed for looting at Gazi Tyres factory

Seven individuals, who were found involved in the looting at the Gazi Tyres factory in Narayanganj’s Rupganj Upazila, were each sentenced to seven days in prison on Sunday.

Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Obaidur Rahman Saleh issued this sentence. Deputy Commissioner Mahmudul Haque told The Business Standard regarding the development.    

The convicts are Abdus Sattar, 22, son of Motabor Hossain, Khorshed Alam, 21, son of Fazlul Haque, Ibrahim, 25, son of Tadir Islam, Mahbub Hossain, 35, son of Atabor Rahman, Siraj, 32, son of Aleb Sheikh, Motalib, 48, son of Abdul Kuddus and Sumon, 30, son of Abdur Rashid.

Earlier the same day, police and army in a joint operation at Gazi Tyres factory nabbed the looters red-handed.

Deputy Commissioner Mahmudul Haque said, “The operation was conducted to catch the looters inside the factory. Such drives will continue to prevent looting inside the factory.”
