The ghosts of dictatorship are not sitting idle and have threatened the country with communal riots, Hasnat Abdullah, coordinator of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement said today (8 September).

“The accomplices of fascism want to come back in various guises. But we must remain united against them,” he said at a view-exchange programme organised by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement at Laldighi Maidan in Chattogram.

Hasnat also said, “Capitalising on the students’ revolution, many are extorting and tendering. This cannot be allowed to continue.”

Praising the bravery of students in Chattogram during the July uprising, Hasnat said, “The movement in Dhaka was about to stop in the middle. At that time, the movement again gained momentum from Chattogram.

“No coordinator was needed here to mount a strong movement against a dictator. From now on in Chattogram, everyone is a coordinator and a co-coordinator.”
