Public Ad ministry cancels appointment of 8 DCs, decides to select new faces
The Ministry of Public Administration has cancelled the appointment of eight of the 59 deputy commissioners chosen in two phases and decided to appoint new DCs within the next two to three days.
Md Mokhlesur Rahman, senior secretary of the ministry, informed reporters about the matter at his office at the Secretariat today (11 September).
The eight districts which are currently without DCs are- Lakshmipur, Joypurhat, Kushtia, Sirajganj, Shariatpur, Dinajpur and Rajbari.
Besides, DCs of four districts- Tangail, Nilphamari, nature and Panchagarh- have also been transferred.
The secretary also said that the seven vacant positions of secretaries will soon be filled up.
“The possibility of recruiting secretaries from additional secretaries is high,” Mokhlesur said.
In the meantime, aggrieved deputy secretaries have been continuing their protests outside the public administration ministry since the morning, with the demand to cancel the appointment of all 59 DCs and recruit new people in their places.
However, Mokhlesur has termed the behaviour of the deputy secretaries unpleasant and said that such an act is unwanted.
Meanwhile, the ministry has formed a one-member committee led by the health secretary. The committee will find out why the deputy secretaries behaved the way they did and provide a report within seven days.
Further decisions will be taken based on the report, Mokhlesur added.
