Fakhrul claims ‘conspiracy’ behind unrest in factories

A deliberate conspiracy is being carried out to destabilise the country’s factories, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged.

“A group is working with a well-planned agenda to undermine the student and public uprising,” he told the media after a joint meeting with the associate bodies of the BNP at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the capital today (12 September).

Fakhrul also announced a rally at the Central Shaheed Minar on 14 September and another in front of the party’s Nayapaltan central office on 15 September as part of a series of events commemorating victims of political repression and marking International Democracy Day.

The BNP leader said, “The rally at Shaheed Minar will be attended by the relatives of those who have been martyred, crippled, or tortured over the past 14 to 15 years. The event will feature various cultural activities, including music, poetry recitals, and performances.

Briefing the media, Fakhrul further said, “Fascist Sheikh Hasina is spreading propaganda from India against Bangladesh and its people. These malicious campaigns will never be accepted.”

The people of Bangladesh would not pay heed to these campaigns, he added. 

“At the same time, an attempt is being made to create instability in the industrial sector,” Fakhrul said, adding that the patriotic people would unite to thwart such attempts so that no one can destroy the success achieved by Bangladesh in any way.

The BNP leader also expressed optimism that the interim government would finish its work as soon as possible and go towards the elections.

Mentioning that the interim government is working on reforms, Fakhrul said the BNP is committed to giving them time and opportunity. “Hopefully, they will complete their work as soon as possible and go towards the elections.”

Fakhrul further expressed hope that the interim government will realise the expectations of the people and those who are entrusted with the responsibility of reform will carry it out very smoothly.

The meeting was attended by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretary Generals Khairul Kabir, Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel and Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, and Advisory Council member Abdus Salam, among others.
