Jadeja confident India will outplay Bangladesh, sees a big gap between India and Pakistan

Ahead of the highly anticipated Bangladesh–India series, former Indian cricketers have frequently referenced Pakistan in their discussions about Bangladesh. Just a few days ago, Shubman Gill brought up the comparison, and now Ajay Jadeja has followed suit.

Commenting on this, former Indian batsman Ajay Jadeja spoke about Bangladesh’s prospects before the India series at a Cricket Association award event last night.

“Any team that wins gains a sense of belief, no matter where they play,” said Jadeja. “But right now, there’s a huge difference between the Pakistan cricket team and the Indian cricket team. India is far ahead of Pakistan.”

He acknowledged that Bangladesh would be confident after beating Pakistan but maintained that India remains the superior side. “From Bangladesh’s perspective, they’ll believe that if they can beat Pakistan, why not India? But we are a much better team, and they are also good. Bangladesh plays spin well, and the conditions will suit them.”

India, not resting on past victories, has announced a full-strength squad for the series against Bangladesh, with the team set to play their first Test under new coach Gautam Gambhir. Jadeja expressed confidence in Gambhir’s aggressive approach, saying, “With Gambhir, there will be no dull moments. He’ll try new things and work according to his beliefs.”

When asked if he had advice for Gambhir, Jadeja said, “I hope he doesn’t take advice or change his strategy. Stick to what made you who you are.”

Bangladesh, led by Najmul Hossain, will depart for India today, with the first Test starting on 19 September in Chennai and the second in Kanpur on 27 September.
