Gayeshwar urge govt not to create new disparities in name of fair reforms

The interim government should not create new disparities in the name of fair reforms, BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said today (17 September).

Criticising the government for not withdrawing political cases against BNP leaders and activists filed during the Awami League regime, the BNP leader questioned, “…Didn’t we sacrifice lives in the struggle to oust the autocratic regime of Sheikh Hasina over the past 16 years?”

“Thousands of our leaders and activists were killed or went missing. Do not create new disparities in the name of fair reforms,” he said addressing a rally in Khulna to mark World Democracy Day.

“The BNP will support the government as long as it takes to organise a free and fair election and implement necessary reforms,” he added.

He also urged the law adviser to immediately withdraw all political cases filed against BNP leaders and activists across the country.

Gayeshwar further said, “…The government has fallen, but democracy has not yet returned. We will not go home until we can cast our votes freely and fairly.

“We have openly resisted the conspiracies of Hasina’s fascist henchmen. BNP leaders, workers, and supporters are ready to face the conspirators.”
