Traffic violations: DMP files 292 cases, fine Tk11.58 lakh in one day
There are about 4,500 policemen to maintain the traffic in the Dhaka megacity of 2 crore people.

The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police filed 219 cases and fined a total of Tk11.58 lakh in a day-long drive against traffic violators on Tuesday (17 September).
Besides, 39 cars were dumped, and 15 cars were wrecked during the operation, the DMP Traffic said in a press statement, signed by DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relation) Talebur Rahman, issued today (18 September).
“The Traffic Division of DMP is working tirelessly to take appropriate legal measures against illegal and law-abiding vehicles to prevent accidents and restore order on the capital’s roads,” reads the press statement.
It also states that there are about 4,500 policemen to maintain the traffic in the Dhaka megacity of 2 crore people.
Traffic police are working at 339 points of the city, it added.
