Armed Police Battallion (APBn) have detained a commander of armed group Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) from a Rohingya Camp in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhia.
According to Commander and Additional Deputy Inspector General of 8 APBn Mohammad Amir Jafar, they conducted the raid at Block-A of Rohingya Camp No-13 in Tanjimarkhola area under Ukhia’s Palongkhali union early today (20 September).
The detainee has been identified as Nurul Islam, son of Gula Hossain from Block-A2 at Rohingya Camp No-13.
“Upon receiving the information that some armed miscreants had been staying at Block-A of Camp No-13, we conducted a drive on early Friday and detained one from the spot. The others managed to flee,” Amir said.
“Later, we conducted a drive at a secret hideout based on the information given by the detainee and seized a G3 rifle alongside 10 bullets,” Amir added.
The APBn Commander also said that the detainee is an ARSA commander and he has been involved with various crimes in the Rohingya Camp for a long time.
