One killed, 11 injured in road accident at Ctg’s Shah Amanat Bridge

A tragic road accident at the Shah Amanat Bridge roundabout in Chattogram claimed the life of one pedestrian and left 11 others injured late yesterday night.

The accident occurred around 10:50pm when a truck carrying fish lost control and rammed into another truck loaded with bricks before crashing into a roadside restaurant.

The deceased has been identified as Bikash Chowdhury, 24, who was standing by the road when the truck struck him.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bakalia police station, Ikhtiyar Uddin, confirmed the incident saying, “One person was killed and 11 others were injured in the accident. The injured are currently receiving treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital,” he told The Business Standard.

Fire service personnel have since removed the truck involved in the accident from the scene.
