Head-on collision between pickup, easy-bike kills 4 in Bagerhat

Four passengers of an easy bike were killed, and two others were injured when it collided head-on with a pickup truck in Bagerhat this morning (9 September).

The accident occurred around 9:30am when a Khulna-bound pickup collided head-on with an easy bike coming from the opposite direction in the Town Nowapara area of the Bagerhat-Khulna highway.

“Three people died on the spot. Two injured were taken to the hospital, and one of them died. The bodies of the three deceased are at Katakhali Highway Police Station,” said Ashraful Haque, sub-inspector (SI) of the station. 

Three of the deceased have been identified as Shawkat, 40, Masum, 30, and Nipa,28. The fourth deceased is yet to be identified.  

Nipa, a schoolteacher at a government primary school, was a resident of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila. The addresses of the other victims are yet to be confirmed.

The sub-inspector said the pickup involved in the accident fled the scene immediately, and efforts are underway to identify it.
